A wide range of high Precision Encoder devices are available. Standard, miniature and sub miniature versions can be supplied with a variety of options to suit many standard and special needs.

Traditionally, two very different types of encoders exist in automation: Incremental and Absolute. The two types vary greatly in their design and in the type of interface electronics typically used to read the encoder.

Applications determine which type of encoder is required to satisfy a particular system requirement. Of the two types of encoders, incremental encoders are most commonly used due to their low cost and simple application. Absolute encoders, although more costly than their incremental cousins, provide position information in a very different manner.

Digital hand wheels and manual encoders can be supplied and special types can be considered against user supplied specification.
